October 30, 2010 - Caring Kids Youth Ministry received the Community Service Award
Caring Kids Youth Ministry received the Community Service Award presented by Tau Gamma Delta Sorority, Inc. at their October 30, 2010 Founders Day Luncheon, which is an annual event. Janet White, Basileus/Beta Chapter, nominated Caring Kids for the honor. Rolanda Watkins and Kiarah Ujamaa were on hand to receive the honor.

August 25, 2008 - Miss Charity Rose Meets "Raven Symone"
Caring Kids and the 2008 Miss Charity Rose Beauty Pageant queens were on site at the Michigan State Fair in partnership with Radio Disney to meet the star of the show "Raven Symone" and to participate on stage with Raven to ask questions. Click here to see pictures from the event.
Special thanks to Radio Disney for accepting Caring Kids and the Miss Charity Rose Beauty Pageant into the family. It was a blast; we look forward to working with you again in the very near future.

May 6, 2007 - 16th Annual Miss Charity Rose Beauty Pageant Held
Caring Kids Fundraiser Committee (CKFC) hosted the 16th annual Miss Charity Rose Beauty Pageant at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Southfield, Michigan as a benefit to feed the homeless, senior citizens and children, as well as those residing in a local battered women and children shelters in Metro Detroit.

December 22, 2006 - Caring Kids Adopts Families
The 2006 Caring Kids Annual Adopt-a-Family Christmas Program was a great success! The organization, along with its many supporters, serviced 31 families from December 21-23, 2006, delivering gifts and food to families with children in need for Christmas.

November 18, 2006 - 20th Annual Free Thanksgiving Dinner
Caring Kids benefited the homeless community, senior citizen, battered women, and children by hosting their 20th annual free thanksgiving dinner at the Neighborhood Service Organization at 3430 Third Street, Detroit, MI 48201, located at the corner of Martin Luther King Blvd.

May 7, 2006 - Miss Charity Rose Beauty Pageant Held
Caring Kids Fundraiser Committee (CKFC) hosted the 15th annual Miss Charity Rose Beauty Pageant at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Southfield, Michigan as a benefit to feed the homeless, senior citizens and children, as well as those residing in a local battered women and children shelters in Metro Detroit.

April 21, 2006 - Miss Charity Rose Pizza Party Hosted
The Miss Charity Rose Pizza Party and/or workshop is a special time for the Miss Charity Rose Beauty Pageant contestants to get together and have good clean fun. This time is set aside for contestants to gain tips from the previous year's pageant video tape, previous year's winners, play games, and learn more about one another and the expectations of the pageant. The 2006 pizza party and workshop was held April 21at the Days Inn Hotel in Livonia.

Kirk Franklin Hometown Hero Award March 3, 2006 - Kirk Franklin Honors Detroit's Hometown Hero
On March 3, 2006, Mrs. Watkins, Caring Kids Youth Ministry Founder and Caring Kids Fundraiser Committee (CKFC) Chairperson, was honored by gospel recording artist Kirk Franklin who named her Detroit's Hometown Hero at his Fox Theater concert. Sarah Dutton nominated Mrs. Watkins for this honor, a former student, and Caring Kids member. Sarah wrote an essay about the work Mrs. Watkins has done in the community for nearly 23 years. Sarah's essay was selected out of many and the honor was bestowed on stage during the concert. Mrs. Watkins' winnings included two front row tickets to Kirk Franklin's Hero Tour concert (Sarah also received two front row tickets), a trophy presented by Kirk Franklin, two Southwest Airline tickets, subscriptions to Gospel Today and Upscale magazines for a year.

Founder Rolanda Watkins Recognized
Mrs. Rolanda Watkins has received numerous awards and recognition of her service to the community. She has received the "Sojourner Truth Award" 1990 and "Black Women in Business Award" 1989 presented by The Detroit Club of The National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc.; "Jefferson Award Winner" 1995 in association with Fox-2 and Standard Federal Bank; WDIV News 4 and "Hardee's Hometown Heroes Award" 1993; WDIV-TV "Go 4 It Award" 1985; "Community Service Award" 1997 presented by Business United with Officers and Youth; and 1992 - 1993 "Living The Dream Award" presented by the Renaissance Chapter of Blacks in Government, for her work on behalf of children, the elderly, needy families and homeless people.

Caring Kids Recognized
Members of Caring Kids Youth Ministry have received many honors and awards for their continuous community service work. Awards were presented by New Detroit, Inc.; the Renaissance Chapter of Blacks in Government; In 1993 members of Caring Kids were honored with a "Key To The City" by Coleman A. Young, Former Mayor of the City of Detroit; "Community Service Award" presented by BUOY-2; commendations and awards from United States Presidents, Governors, Senators and Mayors and many more.
